Just checked my Kindle (which I love) to see what is new. I signed up to a few blogs. The first is "Amazon Daily", which by the way is free. It keeps me informed about what is happening on Amazon. I enjoy it very much. Then of course when you hit the menu button and go to "Shop in Kindle Store," there is the "Kindle Daily Post." Always interesting letting you know about a book, author, or whats happening about both. Sometimes they are offering free books and some at a good discount. It's great. Also on this page is, "Recommended for you", always has suggestions and you can change them at anytime. Getting back to the first page I also signed up for, "I Love My Kindle" blog. with bufocalvin, really enjoy this blog. He seems to take pride in keeping you informed and I do get a lot of information. My favorite blog is "Kindle Nation Daily", with Steve. He seems to alert us a lot about free books. I'm sure I would find them myself but he seems to make you feel your in on something special and because you know this blog, you have the inside scoop. I love how excited I get when I see the words, Free today..... and with just one click I have it in my hand in less then a minute. Now I ask you, How cool is that !!!!!
Hey, if your interested and would like to see my Cottage, inside and out, check out my other site at SecretPortis.blogspot.com. I have a tour of my home. I'm really looking forward to putting in a garden this spring. We are also setting up a green house (my husband is designing it with what we already have around here) which I will be talking about as we go along. Tootles
Happenings from daily living in the country. What we do, what we see. Sometimes interesting, sometimes funny and sometimes sad but join me and I will share.

Good Morning ! Just walked my track behind my cottage. It's an empty field with a track for the Go Carts. They are not running at this time so I am. Ha! Well, I'm walking at a fast pace with ski poles and walking shoes. Yes, I said ski poles. I'm able to keep my balance and go at a good pace as the track is a little uneven. It works great for me. My son is the one who suggested using the ski poles as his neighbor would walk in his orchard with them. Sounded like a great idea for myself. Our track has an oak tree you see at the other end so it's a joy to get started. I counted the steps all the way around this morning and there are 400 even. I went around 5 times and plan on doing that every day. Don't laugh, I will write about it here so you'll see.
The sun is out, the sun is out ! I'm thrilled.
Happy Birthday LoriAnnie !!
I have several sacks of walnuts to crack. We have a couple walnut trees around our house so are we lucky or what ? You see we make Walnut milk for our oatmeal. I even cook the oatmeal on the stove. That happened by accident. Our microwave stopped working and we wanted oatmeal, so I thought how hard could this be. Let me tell you it was easy and as fast if not faster then the microwave plus delicious. We add a little sugar (if I'm out of honey) and walnut milk. My husband loves brown sugar but maple syrup is also great.
To make the walnut milk I use a vita mixer. I've had mine for about 20 years and I love it. You can also use a blender. I put a half cup of walnut meats in the mixer and turn it on and pulse back and forth for about 15 to 20 seconds. Then I leave it running and slowly pour a cup of water through the top. This takes about 15 seconds. Waaaalaaah ! You have Walnut Milk. You can use any nut to do this, they are all good. I also put it over berries, bananas, apples or all the above. Try it, it's great. Some people add vanilla, Why? You just don't need anything else. Enjoy, Tootles

Happy New Year ! Just watched the Rose Parade. Wow, a lot of work went into each and every one of the floats, they were beautiful. Enjoyed it very much. It reminded me of my Dad. He always took a cup of coffee in the living room and was excited about watching the parade. He made it fun to watch. The aroma from the kitchen where Mom was making another Holiday dinner was so intoxicating your taste buds were having a party just thinking about it.
The new year is before us and the promise of new beginnings. I'm all for that as I'm sure everyone is. Here's to Health Care and the promise off jobs, jobs, jobs.
Just downloaded more books for my kindle. How fantastic is the Kindle. I swear, it's the greatest invention since sliced bread. It's like your birthday everyday. It's so exciting to hit that one click button and have it instantly in our hands. I love my kindle so much and am so glad I took the step to buy it. I have never regretted it for a second even though I was among the customers who paid 359.00, I will not complain. The amount of books I have received for free makes up for that. Thank you, thank you, Amazon it's really the gift that keeps on giving every single day. More later, tootles
